I cant tell you my level of devastation over Whitney Houston passing away. I secretly hoped that it would have turned out to be a twitter hoax gone bad but once it set in, I got mad! We all either know a friend or relative that has been addicted to substance abuse and have looked the other way when we knew they were high because we told ourselves if they’re able to function then clearly they can handle it. At some point we have to take a stance so this morning on #TheMorningParty I proposed that the record labels enforce random drug test the same as in sports arena. Man did I get flake for that!! I got callers/tweets/messages letting me know that “no way no how” is that shat gonna ever happen! And the fact that Clive Davis went right ahead with his Grammy party at the same hotel the same day that his protege’ passed says alot! I had a follower tell me she is worth more dead then she is alive (sad truth) and this is a moral issue! After 2 hours of getting slammed by our listeners I gave up. Until…
I came across this video of Wendy taking a few moments on her show to talk about Whitney Houston, her own addictions, and hoping for reconciliation in later years. Although it may be seen as somewhat inappropriate (since it would basically be recanting Whitney’s addiction for the most part), she gave a possible solution….. ”Reach out to that person and call ‘em out on it. Cuz even if they don’t quit, once you call ‘em out, it makes it harder for them to sneak around…get high.”
