In case you weren’t glued to the TV for the BET Awards like most Black folks were, here’s a quick recap:

The opening from the G.O.O.D music crew with ‘Lamborghini Mercy‘ was the perfect opening and the freestyle from Kanye West was what that was. He wrapped Whitney Houston, Rodney King, Kim K., Wiz Khalifa, Lebron James, The Illuminati and Chicago crime scene into one verse.
Samuel Jackson & Spike Lee’s parody to ‘N****s in Paris‘ was rather hilarious…
Jay- Z made a surprise appearance while Kanye (who was sitting front row with Kim K. btw) was accepting the award for Best Group and Usher performed one of my favorite songs from his new album, Climax.
Kevin Hart won Best Actor and was hilarious as usual during his acceptance speech. Big Sean took home the award for Best New Artist and gave us a good rule to live by…
When I started doing what I wanted to do, that’s when I started to live the life I wanted to live.
You can always count on Nicki Minaj to come out and make it do what it do. She performed ’Beez In The Trap‘ with another appearance from 2 Chainz.
Now I must admit I was really looking forward to D’Angelo returning to the stage but was expecting more from his look based on his recent GQ Magazine interview.
Rick Ross and his MMG camp took the stage and I have to give Rozay his credit. Even as big as he is, I’m feeling the ‘Big Boy Swag’ he has working for himself.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly by Joe, Tyrese & Faith Evans that carried me back to the good ole days!
The play fight between Jay-Z & Beyonce was cute seeing as how together they had four of the five videos nominated for the Best Video award which he won as well.
Chris Brown performed ‘Don’t Wake Me Up‘, ‘Turn Up The Music‘ and danced his @** off as usual.
The tribute to Whitney Houston was very heartfelt and emotional. Mariah Carey opened it up and Monica & Brandy sang their lil hearts out.
SN: I have NEVER seen Brandy move like that. I guess she say she BACK!
Houston’s brother, Gary Houston, performed a very touching song before introducing their mother, Cissy Houston, who sang ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ and brought tears to my eyes and most folks in the audience, including Soulja Boy. Her co-stars from ‘Waiting To Exhale‘ had some beautiful words to say and Chaka Khan came out to ‘I’m Every Woman‘ looking fabulous as ever.
And that was it for me folks! I couldn’t take no more…
But don’t worry, if you missed any parts of the show that I didn’t mention here or just want to see it for yourself rest assured that BET will be replaying the mess out of the show!
